Anthony Zinonos

I first discovered Anthony Zinonos' work in a book I bought over the holidays entitled 'collage'. Out of all the artist's in the book, his work really captured my attention. I am fascinated by his simple use of shape and colour, combined with a clever use of perspective and collected ephemera. I feel that the real thrill of his work lies behind it's beautiful simplicity and brilliantly clever compositions.

Looking through his blog I found it interesting how this simple and quirky style has worked well for him in commercial contexts. I think his work really attracts clients, as he is able to achieve something simple and eye-catching - that does not distract from the product - whilst also including a clever edge or twist to the image.

I think collage generally is something that I would definitely like to use more (especially after the last visual language session), as I really enjoy the idea of twisting the meaning of preexisting images by placing them in new contexts. I think as a medium it has the potential to provide really humorous and inventive imagery.
